WHITEWATER KAYAKING IN WEST VIRGINIA

At the North American River Runners (NARR) Kayak School, our highly qualified instructors have the experience and skill to teach beginners the basics and help advanced paddlers refine their technique. NARR’s Kayak School is the oldest in West Virginia and every class is customized to address the skills of each student. Our fleet of boats is replaced each season to keep students in tune with the latest paddling innovations.

You can schedule a clinic for as many ays as you like. Typical classes run from two to five days. These are full day classes with lunch included. NARR has lodging available at our base camp. The maximum student to teacher ratio is 4-to-1. At least two days are recommended for beginners. Beginner Clinics teach the basics such as equipment and outfitting, the Eskimo roll, wet exit, paddle strokes, eddy turns and peel outs. Advanced Clinics include surfing, wave and hole tricks, creeking techniques and reading rapids on the fly.

There are many rivers in our area to practice your new paddling skills. Sections of river may include the Upper New, Lower New, Top Gauley, Middle Gauley, Middle Meadow, and Cherry River.

Many of our alumni work in the whitewater industry as videographers and safety kayakers. Others have earned team sponsorships and regularly compete in national and international rodeos and races.

Kayaking will help you to stay in shape, give you the ability to explore remote areas and help you stay in tune with the natural environment. Let North American River Runners introduce you to one of the fastest-growing sports in the U.S. with a kayak clinic!

Visit NARR for reservations, accommodations, whitewater rafting, and other outdoor adventure activities. We've been paddling in West Virginia since 1975. For more information or questions, please email us at narr@narr.com.
